Kingston’s initial appearance is set for Friday in Utah’s Fifth Judicial District Court, according to prosecutors.

First-degree felony rape in Utah carries a potential sentence ranging from five years to life in prison, according to reporting on the filing.

BYU response and playing record

BYU said it became aware of Kingston’s arrest on Wednesday, said it takes allegations seriously, and said it will cooperate with law enforcement, while declining further comment due to federal and university privacy laws and student-related practices.

Kingston led BYU in receiving last season, with 66 catches for 924 yards and five touchdowns, according to Reuters
